A digital calendar is a total lifesaver and can make your daily life a breeze. A digital calendar at its most basic is a time management, organization, and planning tool. It works so well because it makes time visual, tangible, and easier to work with. However, time and time again I see most people aren’t utilizing their digital calendars to their full potential. Most use it to keep track of work events and appointments only, but there are so many more ways you can use a digital calendar. In the house, it’s like having a personal assistant to keep track of everyone’s schedule and tasks. No more missed appointments or double bookings! In the office, it’s the ultimate team player, helping you schedule meetings and keep track of deadlines like a pro. And in the workplace, it’s like having a magic wand for communication and collaboration. Everyone can view and update the same calendar, so you never have to worry about tasks slipping through the cracks. Plus, with the ability to access it from anywhere and sync it across multiple devices, you can take your trusty calendar with you wherever you go. If you’re ready to streamline and simplify your life and protect your time in your digital calendar, you’ll start by choosing a calendar software. I use google calendar because it’s attached to my email and it’s a free tool that I was already familiar with. Next, decide what aspects of your life you’ll want to organize into your calendar. For me, I keep track of my work meetings, work projects, admin, and self-care. After this if you’re tech friendly, you can create sub-calendars for each category. Third, you’ll enter in important dates and tasks, individual and recurring appointments and events, and focused-time for your goals in each category. Something my clients and I like are changing the colors of the events to link to the category. Finally, you’ll want to make sure you turn on the notifications you want, share with relevant people and colleagues, and integrate it with any tools and services you use. For example, Calendly is the appointment scheduling software I use and it’s connected to my google calendar. Know that experimenting and refining is key. Regularly review and refine your calendar to make sure it meets your needs. I keep my google calendar updated in real time, meaning I move things around and delete them throughout the day. This helps me stay on track while being flexible. And if you want to uplevel all of this, you can place certain tasks and events based on your unique energy, motivation, and circumstances for easier follow through and effectiveness. After making my digital calendar my home base for my personal life and business, I no longer operate from a to-do list! I plan out my days and projects so much more realistically which allows me to better take care of myself, stay focused on what’s most important to me, and more easily achieve my goals. And always remember, time is your most precious resource, and your digital calendar is here to help you organize and protect it. Meet Our Contributor — Becca Rich
