When it comes to career advice, we’ve all received our fair share of do’s and don’ts. And while some of it may have been helpful, there’s always that one nugget of wisdom that sticks with us long after the conversation is over. For me, that advice came from a confidante early on in my career: always be learning.
Learning doesn’t always have to happen in a formal setting; it can be something as simple as reading an article or listening to a podcast related to your industry. The more you know, the better equipped you are to make sound decisions, both in your personal and professional life. And as an entrepreneur, being well-informed is critical to your success. After all, you’re the one who’s ultimately responsible for steering the ship. So if you’re not up-to-date on the latest trends or developments in your industry, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. As an entrepreneur, you wear many hats; chief among them is that of a decision-maker, which I have come to love as the Director of Cullen Jewellery. And whether you’re deciding which vendor to use for your product launch or which candidate to hire for your team, you need to have all the information at your disposal before you can make the best possible decision. If you want your business to stay ahead of the curve, you need to constantly challenge yourself and come up with new ideas. But how can you do that if you’re not actively trying to learn new things? The answer is: You can’t. The bottom line is that learning should be a lifelong pursuit. So, if someone were to ask me for career advice today, I would tell them the same thing I was told all those years ago: Always be learning! Learn more about Cullen Jewellery here
