Seasons are Changing! Professionals and experts representing different commercial backgrounds share their self care recommendations which can enhance one’s wellness regimen and life outlook.

Turn Your Home Into a Self-Care Sanctuary
My tip for upgrading self-care is to treat your home as an active part of your routine. Engage the senses by introducing a seasonal scent, soft textiles like a rug, tunable lighting and gentle sound to create a space that helps you relax. Make small, seasonal swaps such as a new throw, a different light temperature, or a short soundscape to signal a change in rhythm and make rest more inviting. Designate a corner or ritual that encourages you to shed your armor so self-care becomes easier to keep up. - Victoria Plasencia, Interior designer, VP Interiorismo (Victoria Plasencia Interiorismo)

Make Morning Coffee a Mindful Ritual
Here’s my favorite self-care upgrade for the new season, and I’ll admit it comes from behind the roaster rather than the runway: turn your morning coffee into a real ritual instead of a caffeine transaction. Since founding Equipoise Coffee in 2021, we’ve built everything around one idea, balance, and I’ve watched it change how people treat their mornings. Most adults gulp coffee while scrolling their phones. My tip is to slow that first cup down for ten unhurried minutes. Grind the beans fresh, smell the bloom, watch the pour. That small pause sets the tone for everything that follows, and it costs you nothing but attention.

Here’s an anecdote I love sharing. A customer told us she’d spent years drinking whatever was cheapest and bitterest, drowning it in sugar and never once enjoying it. We walked her through a gentler approach with our Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, and she later called it a turning point. The cup tasted like citrus and sweetness to her, and suddenly her morning felt like a treat instead of a chore. A few minutes of care in the brew turned into patience she carried through her entire day.

That’s why our roasting philosophy leans on precise, small-batch technique to eliminate bitterness. When your coffee tastes smooth on its own, you don’t need to mask anything, and honestly, that’s a decent metaphor for self-care too: subtract the harsh stuff before piling on new fixes. So for the season ahead, pick one bean you genuinely love, master one brew method, and protect those quiet minutes like an appointment you can’t cancel. Whether it’s a honey-processed Mexican La Laja or our Cavaliers Blend, the upgrade isn’t about spending more money. It’s about giving yourself a daily moment of intention. Balance isn’t a buzzword for us here in Harlingen, Texas. It’s the whole point, and it might be the most wearable thing you put on each morning. - Rory Keel, Owner, Equipoise Coffee

Scale Back Workouts for Lasting Consistency
Every year around this time, I’d try to get back into a full workout routine as soon as the weather changed, and every year it would only last a week before I gave up. What worked was the opposite: I scaled back my routine instead of pushing myself too hard. Now, the new thing I do every year at the start of the season isn’t adding exercises, but reducing my daily physical activity to such a short duration that there’s no excuse not to do it, even on those cold, dark mornings when I would have skipped my old routine. Ten minutes, always in the same place, before I even check my emails. It might seem like a small change, but it’s the only version of this “seasonal reset” that’s lasted more than a few weeks for me.

Refresh Your Wardrobe to Boost Confidence
As a personal stylist, I’ve found that self-care doesn’t always have to mean adding another thing to your routine. Sometimes it’s about making the things you already do feel a little more intentional. One of my favorite ways to do that with the start of the new season is to refresh my wardrobe. I’ll pull out what I haven’t worn in a while, try on pieces I’ve forgotten about, and create a few outfits that make me genuinely feel excited when I get dressed in the morning. There’s something about feeling good in what you’re wearing that can completely change your mood and confidence. My advice is to choose one small area of your routine that makes you feel good and give it a little more attention. Self-care should feel like something you enjoy, not another item on your to-do list. - Kate Malyszka, Personal Stylist, STYLE, NOTED.

Schedule Self-Care Like a Meeting
Honestly, just put self-care on the calendar like a meeting. At our clinic, we started blocking time for stretching and walks with actual reminders. It stopped us from skipping stuff and feeling guilty about taking a break. Automate the reminders so you actually do it, otherwise you just keep pushing it to another day. - Ashley Simpson Davies, Co-Founder, Faces

Prep Sunday for a Calmer Week
I’ve noticed clients who prep on Sunday have an easier time. I lay out my clothes and cook lunch so I’m not rushing Monday morning. We saw this work at Paretofit too. Less stress and better sleep when people stick to that routine. It seems simple, but getting your outfit and food ready Sunday night actually makes a huge difference for the week ahead.
- Tobias Burkhardt, Founder & CEO, Paretofit

Commit to One Seasonal Self-Care Habit
I’ve seen this work for clients and for me. Just pick one thing when the weather changes. Last fall I started doing a hydrating mask every Sunday. My skin felt better and I actually got to relax. It doesn’t need to be expensive or take forever. Just pick one habit, stick to it, and see how much better you feel after a few weeks.
